Our High Priest Who Leads us to a Promised Rest Pt 3

Jesus our Great High Priest does what priest’s do – He leads us to God.  In Hebrews chapter four our High Priest leads us to God’s “rest” seemingly, paradoxically, via Fear, via the Word and then via Boldness.  The Word is Characterized as a means to Expose and Separate our true Thoughts and Intentions so that we may be shown to be truly seeking God’s “rest” or falling short of that rest in unbelief.

Jesus our Great High Priest does what priest’s do – He leads us to God.  In Hebrews chapter four our High Priest leads us to God’s “rest” paradoxically, via Fear, via the Word and then via Boldness.  We begin with the Word that Exposes our Diligence or Disobedience.

Today we shall let Jesus lead us to God's rest via the fear of falling short of it. -- Hebrews 4:1 – 10

I. Jesus Leads us to God's Rest Via "Fear" of Falling Short

Considering the High Priest of our Confession Pt 4

 The writer follows by outlining Four Ingredients in the antidote to evil hearted unbelief so that we might be rescued from unfaithfulness and Enter the Rest of God.  Today with will look at the final two ingredients in the antidote to unfaithfulness:

Part 3 – Who Leads us to Faithfulness -- Hebrews 3:12-19

"Beware of an evil heart of unbelief" is the warning of Hebrews 3:12. This call to be-aware, is a protective call for self-evaluation. It is undergirded by a desire to rescue people from "departing from the living God" through evil hearted unbelief. The writer follows by outlining an available antidote to evil hearted unbelief so that we might be rescued from unfaithfulness and Enter the Rest of God.

The High Priest of our Confession who is faithful, Speaks Today, warning Hebrews to remember their rebellions of the past which brought on God's punishment. He speaks, so that all who hear may avoid the consequences of a hard heart and enter the Rest God has promised to faithful followers.--Hebrews 3:7-11
