Peter presents two sides of God. The side of God who destroys and the God who Delivers. Here, in Second Peter, He is the God who will destroy the False Teachers and the God who Delivers the godly. His purpose is dual also – to warn false teachers and any who are drawn away after them and second to bring a message of hope to the godly who must endure them. II Peter 2:3c-9
